Women's Tennis Rebounds With 8-1 Win At Belmont Abbey

University of Mount Olive swept all six singles matches on its way to an 8-1 victory over Belmont Abbey in Conference Carolinas women's tennis Tuesday at Belmont, N.C. Five Trojans won in straight sets, dropping one game or less in each set.

Mount Olive (8-3 overall, 4-2 Conference Carolinas) led 2-1 after doubles play and clinched the team victory early in singles competition. Francesca Ceppi won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles; Roxanne Chouinard won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles; Alejandra Hernandez won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles; Mariana Gamboa won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 singles; and Nicole La Chappelle won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.

After playing four matches in five days, Mount Olive is idle until Sunday when the Trojans travel to Wingate, N.C., to take on Wingate in non-conference action. Match time is 1 p.m.
