Women's Tennis Shuts Out Emmanuel 9-0

Paulina Delgado posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles as University of Mount Olive shut out Emmanuel College 9-0 in Conference Carolinas women's tennis Friday at Walker Tennis Center. The win moved Mount Olive into a third place tie in the conference standings with Erskine, the Trojans' next opponent.

Mount Olive (11-4 overall, 7-2 Conference Carolinas) led 3-0 after doubles play as Francesca Ceppi and Roxanne Chouinard combined for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles, while Alejandra Hernandez and Mariana Gamboa teamed for an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles. The Trojans won No. 3 doubles by default.

In addition to Delgado's singles win at love, Hernandez posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles. Ceppi and Chouinard each won in straight sets.

Mount Olive concludes its weekend homestand Saturday against Erskine in a battle for third place in the conference standings. Match time is 10 a.m. at Walker Tennis Center.
