Francesca Ceppi and Roxanne Chouinard posted a win at No. 1 doubles for University of Mount Olive, but Division I North Carolina Central swept all six singles matches and won the doubles point for a 7-0 victory over the Trojans in non-conference women's tennis Sunday at Durham, N.C. The loss snapped the Trojans' four-match winning streak.
Mount Olive (12-5) earned its lone win of the day as Ceppi and Chouinard won 8-6. North Carolina Central (8-14) won the other two doubles matches to claim the doubles point. In Division I tennis, one point is awarded to the team that wins the most doubles matches, as opposed to a point awarded for each doubles win.
Three of the Trojans' five losses this season have come against Division I opposition.
Mount Olive concludes regular season play Tuesday as the Trojans play host to Barton in Conference Carolinas action. Match time is 2 p.m. at Walker Tennis Center.
Ceppi and Chouinard will be honored during Senior Day ceremonies prior to the match.
