Alejandra Hernandez and Stella Di Michele won the No. 1 Women's Doubles title, while Maite Belloso and Paulina Delgado captured the No. 2 Women's Doubles title as University of Mount Olive competed in the Methodist University Tennis Invitational at Fayetteville, N.C., over the weekend.
Hernandez and Di Michele opened with an 8-0 win over the doubles team from Guilford College, then defeated the doubles team from Bluefield College 8-4 in the semifinal round. Hernandez and Di Michele captured the championship with an 8-3 win over the doubles team from North Carolina Wesleyan College.
Belloso and Delgado also opened with a shutout victory in the No. 2 Doubles flight, beating the Emory and Henry College doubles team 8-0 in the first round. After posting an 8-5 win over the doubles team from tournament host Methodist University, Belloso and Delgado clinched the title with another 8-5 victory over the North Carolina Wesleyan doubles team.
The Trojans are idle this weekend, then conclude fall play October 2-5 in the ITA Southeast Regionals at Sumter, S.C.
