University of Mount Olive fell to Chowan University 7-2 in non-conference women's tennis Tuesday at Walker Tennis Center. Jennifer Byrd accounted for both Trojan points with wins in singles and doubles play.
Mount Olive (2-4) evened the match at 1-1 after Byrd and Paulina Delgado combined for an 8-7 victory at No. 2 doubles, winning 8-6 in the tie-breaker. Chowan (5-1) broke the tie at No. 1 doubles and led the remainder of the match. Byrd also won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5 singles for the Trojans' lone singles victory.
Mount Olive returns to action Thursday as the Trojans travel to Greenwood, S.C., to take on Lander University. Match time is 2 p.m.
