Paulina Delgado, Mariana Gamboa and Nicole La Chappelle all posted straight-set singles wins without losing more than one game in any one set as University of Mount Olive defeated Bluefield College 6-3 in non-conference women's tennis Sunday at Walker Tennis Center. Delgado also combined with Jennifer Byrd for an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles.
Mount Olive (3-5) was tied 3-3 after Delgado won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Gamboa followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles and La Chappelle won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles as the Trojans clinched the team win.
Mount Olive will be idle for nearly two weeks until the Trojans play host to Converse College March 18 in Conference Carolinas action. Match time is 2 p.m. at Walker Tennis Center.
