Women's Tennis Defeats Barton 6-3

University of Mount Olive defeated Barton College 6-3 in Conference Carolinas women's tennis in Wilson, N.C. Tuesday afternoon. Mount Olive rallied back down 2-0 in singles to take the match winning the final four singles matches.

Stella Di Michele and Alejandra Hernandez picked up the first win for Mount Olive (5-5 Overall, 4-1 Conference Carolinas) in #1 doubles as the duo won 8-3. Jennifer Byrd and Paulina Delgado continued by winning #2 doubles 8-0. Barton (2-14, 0-6) then rallied to win #3 doubles as well as #1 & #2 singles and took a 3-2 lead.

Delgado stopped the Trojans skid by taking #3 singles 6-1, 6-2 and pushing the final singles players to continue the momentum. Mulan Bartz and Mariana Gamboa both took #4 and #5 singles by a score of 6-2/6-0 and 6-0/6-1 respectively. Nicole La Chappelle was forced to win the final singles match in a third set as Barton forced La Chappelle to win the final set 8-6 to give Mount Olive the win.

Mount Olive will have some time off before the Trojans head to Bristol, Tenn. to take on King University April 1 at 11 a.m.
