Women's Tennis Defeats Lees-McRae 9-0

University of Mount Olive defeated Lees-McRae 9-0 in Conference Carolinas women's tennis in Banner Elk, N.C. Saturday afternoon. Mount Olive dropped only three sets in the match.

Stella Di Michele and Alejandra Hernandez picked up the first win for Mount Olive (7-5 Overall, 6-1 Conference Carolinas) in #1 doubles as the duo won 8-4. Jennifer Byrd and Paulina Delgado continued by winning #2 doubles 8-3. Mulan Bartz and Nicole La Chappelle closed out doubles play with a 8-2 win and Mount Olive took the momentum moving into singles play.

Lees-McRae (3-10, 2-6) tried to take #1 singles as Di Michele took the first set 6-2 before the Bobcats Caroline Green took the second set 2-6. Di Michele rallied to take the final set 6-1 and won at #1 singles. Mount Olive only lost two more sets as the Trojans did not drop a singles match and won the match.

Mount Olive will have a quick turnaround as the Trojans head to Banner Elk, N.C. to take on Lees-McRae Saturday at 11 a.m.

Mount Olive will return home this Friday to host North Greenville at the Walker Tennis Center at 2 p.m.
