Women's Tennis Defeats Limestone 6-3 On Senior Day

University of Mount Olive defeated Limestone College 6-3 at the Walker Tennis Center in Mount Olive, N.C. Sunday afternoon in Conference Carolinas Women's Tennis. The Trojans lone senior Paulina Delgado was honored before the match

Mount Olive (10-6 Overall, 9-2 Conference Carolinas) fell behind early as Limestone (11-8, 9-2) won No. 1 and No. 2 doubles and took a 2-1 lead into singles play.

Mariana Gamboa got the Trojans started off on the right foot as she won No. 5 singles 6-4, 6-1 and tied the match at two. Stella Di Michelle then took No. 1 singles 6-3, 7-5 to give Mount Olive the lead. 

Limestone battled back to tie the match with a win at No. 2 singles. Mount Olive was put back on the right track as Delgado won No. 3 singles 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 and put the Trojans back in the lead. Mount Olive went one to win the match taking the final two singles matches.

Mount Olive has secured the No. 2 seed in the Conference Carolinas Women's Tennis Tournament Quarterfinals April 29 at Sumter Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C. The Trojans will take on King at 9 a.m.
