Mount Olive Women's Tennis Advances To Semifinals Of Conference Carolinas Tournament

No. 2 seed University of Mount Olive defeated the No. 7 seed King University in the quarterfinals of the Conference Carolinas Women's Tennis Tournament Friday morning from the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C. Mount Olive won took doubles in straight sets and then took 2-of-3 singles matches for the win.

Alejandra Hernandez and Stella Di Michele took the opening doubles match 8-2 to put Mount Olive (11-6) ahead. Paulina Delgado and Jennifer Byrd took No.2 doubles 8-0. The Trojans went on to sweep doubles with an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles with Nicole La Chappelle taking the final match. 

Mount Olive needed only two singles matches to win the match and they found them at No.1 and No. 3 singles. Delgado continued the sweep for Mount Olive with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles. Di Michele finished off the match for the Trojans with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No.1 singles and Mount Olive advanced to the semifinals.

The Trojans will take on the No. 3 seed Limestone College Saturday morning at 9 a.m. from Sumter, S.C.
