UMO Sweeps Past Lees-McRae

Mount Olive, N.C. – The University of Mount Olive women's tennis team powered past Lees-McRae College, 9-0, in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon in Mount Olive, N.C.

INSIDE THE RESULTS

  • UMO opened the match with a sweep of doubles action.
  • Senior Stella Di Michelle and sophomore Julie Gonzalez-Rodriguez swept their opponent in No. 1 doubles, 8-0, while senior Alejandra Hernandez and freshman Areej Fareh combined for an 8-1 win at No. 2.
  • Completing the sweep of doubles, juniors Nicole La Chappelle and Mariana Gamboa earned an 8-2 victory at No. 3 doubles.
  • In singles play, the Trojans swept all six matches.
  • Di Michelle continued her strong play with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles, while Hernandez powered past her opponent at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-2.
  • La Chappelle earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles and sophomore Emma Burroughs captured an 8-1 win at No. 6 singles.
  • Rounding out the Trojans' sweep, Gonzalez-Rodriguez won her matchup at No. 2 singles, 8-3, and Fareh grabbed an 8-4 triumph at No. 4 singles.
