Sumter, S.C. – To open the 2017 Conference Carolinas Tournament, the fifth-seeded University of Mount Olive women's tennis team swept past fourth-seeded Erskine University, 5-0, at the Sumter Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C.

INSIDE THE RESULTS
- UMO opened the match with a sweep of all three doubles matches.
- Seniors Stella Di Michele and Julie Gonzalez-Rodriguez earned an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles and senior Alejandra Hernandez and freshman Areej Fareh slipped past their opponents at No. 2 doubles, 8-5.
- Also earning a doubles win, senior Mariana Gamboa and junior Nicole La Chappelle captured an 8-2 triumph at No. 3 doubles.
- UMO earned the match sweep and semifinal berth with victories at No. 2 and No. 6 singles.
- Gonzalez-Rodriguez glided past her foe at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-0, and Gamboa swept her opponent at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
