MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The University of Mount Olive women's tennis team fell to the Battling Bishops of North Carolina Wesleyan in NCAA Division II non-conference women's tennis at the John Neal Walker Tennis Center in Mount Olive, N.C.

INSIDE THE RESULTS

  • The Trojans came out of the doubles round trailing 3-0 after dropping all three doubles games.
  • Sonja Gärtner & Areej Fareh fell 8-3 in the No. 1 doubles position, while Jennifer Byrd & Nicole La Chappelle dropped the No. 2 doubles flight, 8-5, and Julissa Quintanilla & Emma Burroughs fell in the third flight 8-2.
  • UMO and NC Wesleyan split the singles matches winning three each as the Battling Bishops defeated the Trojans 6-3.
  • Gärtner won her singles match 6-3, 6-0, in the No. 1 flight.
  • Fareh picked up a win at the No. 2 singles position in three sets 3-6, 6-1, 10-8.
  • And La Chappelle downed the No. 3 player from N.C. Wesleyan in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.

Mount Olive is back in action this weekend as they conclude Conference Carolinas action on the road at Limestone and Converse. The Trojans and Saints face off in Gaffney, S.C., on Friday, April 13, at 2:30 p.m. UMO wraps up the regular season on Saturday, April 14, with a match against the Valkyries of Converse at 11 a.m. in Spartanburg, S.C.
