University of Mount Olive completed competition the Colonial Relays this weekend in Williamsburg, Va. Trojans set three NCAA Provisional Qualifiers and two school records on the weekend.
On the men's side Michael Munoz achieved an NCAA Provisional Qualifying standard in 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:15.49. Munoz also climbed into third place on UMO top-10 list. Munoz then went on to run 31:37 in the 10000m moving him into eighth place.
Adam Craig and Austin Steagall surpassed the NCAA Provisional Qualifying standard for 10000m.Steagall finished with a time 30:51 and Craig finished just in front of Steagall with a time of 30:45.98.
Jon Dahlke moved into 3rd on the all-time list for 1500m with a time of 3:53.03. Jacob Urys ran a personal best in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:35.26. The time moved him into 9th on all-time list. Dahlke's time was impressive considering he just finished competing in the 800m just before the start of the steeplechase. His time of 1:53.85 put him second in the all-time list.
Guillermo Matesanz improved upon his 400m hurdle time, advancing to fourth on UMO top-10 list with a time of 57.04.
On the women's side Kelsey Valentine broke the five year old school record set by Chelsea Long in 2011 for 10000m in her first time competing in the event. Valentine's time of 38:04.03 eclipsed the old record by 28 seconds.
Bailee Henry broke her own school record in the 1500m by five seconds with a time of 4:48.61
Emily Shaw broke her personal best mark in 10000m by 2:12, advancing up the UMO top-10 list to fourth overall with a time of 39:24.04.
Shona Blades also set a personal best in the 5000m, entering the UMO top-10 list at ninth with a time of 19:12.64.
Mount Olive will compete next in the JCSU invitational in Charlotte, N.C. hosted by Johnson C. Smith University April 8.
