HIGH POINT, N.C. --- University of Mount Olive track and field student-athlete Malak Kafi was named the week one Conference Carolinas Track and Field Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, it was announced by the conference office.
Kafi, a High Point, N.C. native, started her junior campaign in high gear at the Appalachian State Open by setting the UMO school record in the long jump, while also exceeding the NCAA provisional qualifying mark with a leap of 5.68m. In a field of Division I and II athletes Kafi won the event and now holds the top mark in the conference and the eighth-best in Division II.
