Mount Olive Wins Conference Carolinas Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship

Winston-Salem, N.C. – The University of Mount Olive women's track & field team won the 2018-19 Conference Carolinas Indoor Track & Field Championship on Sunday in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Championship is the fifth consecutive in program history. Mount Olive swept the Conference Carolinas end of the year awards receiving the Freshman of the Year, Track Athlete of the Year, Field Athlete of the Year and Coach of the Year.

WOMEN'S NOTABLES

  • Mount Olive had 12 Trojans earn a spot on the podium in their respective events.
  • Celine RitterLeah Hanle, Malak Kafi, and Taylor Moncrief all became Conference Champions winning their events.
  • Jacqueline Thring was named Freshman of the Year, Leah Hanle was named Track Athlete of the year, her third of her career, Taylor Moncrief was named Field Athlete of the Year, the third of her career, and head coach Matt van Lierop was named Coach of the Year.

UP NEXT

  • Mount Olive will wait to see if any of their NCAA Provisional qualifying marks will make the field at the 2019 NCAA DII Indoor National Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas March 8-9. Some Trojans, including Leah Hanle, have already punched their ticket with automatic qualifying marks earlier in the season.
