Women's Volleyball Falls To Limestone In Three Sets

University of Mount Olive fell to Limestone College 25-18, 25-13, 25-19 in Conference Carolinas women's volleyball Saturday at Gaffney, S.C. The loss gave the Trojans a split in their weekend road trip after defeating Converse in four sets Friday.

After dropping the first two sets, Mount Olive (5-12 overall, 2-5 Conference Carolinas) stayed even with Limestone (6-13, 5-1) in the third set. Kills by Dezirae Mackey and Montgomery Register pulled the Trojans within 19-17. Limestone scored five of the next six points to pull away. Register's kill saved one match point before the Saints sealed the win.

In the opening set, a kill and a block by Sarah Robertson late in the set helped Mount Olive cut a nine-point deficit down to five. Limestone scored the final two points to close out the set. The Saints built an early double-digit advantage in the second set and went on to take a two-set lead.

Britni Johnson led Mount Olive with six kills. Samantha Winfield had 12 assists and Aubrey McKinney added 11 assists.

Mount Olive continues Conference Carolinas action Wednesday as the Trojans play host to Barton in a rematch from last week. Mount Olive fell to the Bulldogs in four sets last week at Barton. Match time is 7 p.m. at Kornegay Arena.
