Central, S.C. – The University of Mount Olive women's volleyball team dropped a hard-fought match to Southern Wesleyan University in Conference Carolinas action Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened
Play-by-Play

FIRST SET

  • Southern Wesleyan was the aggressor early in the set, taking a 12-5 lead.
  • UMO cut the Warriors advantage to just 18-15, but never grew closer.

SECOND SET

  • Mount Olive flipped momentum in the second stanza, as the Trojans earned a 9-7 lead within the first 20 points.
  • SWU continued to challenge the Trojans, but UMO was able to pull always in the late stages for the narrow 25-23 set victory.

THIRD SET

  • The Warriors pounced on opportunities in the third frame as SWU took a 10-7 lead.
  • Twice Mount Olive pushed SWU to the brink in the late stages of the set, but the Trojans could not complete the comeback.

FOURTH SET

  • After Mount Olive took an 8-7 lead, the Warriors roared back with a 12-2 run to take a commanding 19-10 lead. 
  • SWU would finish off the match with a 4-1 run to capture the set and match victory.
