Central, S.C. – The University of Mount Olive women's volleyball team dropped a hard-fought match to Southern Wesleyan University in Conference Carolinas action Saturday afternoon.

Play-by-Play
FIRST SET
- Southern Wesleyan was the aggressor early in the set, taking a 12-5 lead.
- UMO cut the Warriors advantage to just 18-15, but never grew closer.
SECOND SET
- Mount Olive flipped momentum in the second stanza, as the Trojans earned a 9-7 lead within the first 20 points.
- SWU continued to challenge the Trojans, but UMO was able to pull always in the late stages for the narrow 25-23 set victory.
THIRD SET
- The Warriors pounced on opportunities in the third frame as SWU took a 10-7 lead.
- Twice Mount Olive pushed SWU to the brink in the late stages of the set, but the Trojans could not complete the comeback.
FOURTH SET
- After Mount Olive took an 8-7 lead, the Warriors roared back with a 12-2 run to take a commanding 19-10 lead.
- SWU would finish off the match with a 4-1 run to capture the set and match victory.
KEY STATS
- Junior Mackenzie Call led UMO with 14 kills on a .241 hitting percentage.
- Adding 40 assists was freshman Kamber Skeen.
- Juniors Britni Johnson (13) and Mi'Kayla Benson (12) combined for 25 kills to aid the Trojans.
NOTABLES
The loss ends UMO's 2016 season. The Trojans more than doubled their win total from the 2015 season in the program's first year under the direction of head coach Jennifer Charles.
