Pembroke, N.C. - The University of Mount Olive women's volleyball team split their doubleheader between Elizabeth City State and UNC Pembroke on Tuesday evening in non-conference action at Lumbee Bank Court in Pembroke, N.C. The Trojans defeated the Vikings in three sets while falling to the Braves in three later in the evening.

FIRST SET
- The match began with the Vikings of ECSU taking a 3-2 lead before the Trojans countered with an 8-2 run taking a 10-5 lead.
- Mount Olive's lead grew to six points as UMO sat ahead 15-9 following four Trojan kills and a Viking error.
- UMO continued to maintain their lead throughout the remainder of the set winning 25-18.
SECOND SET
- The Vikings opened the second set with the first two points but the Trojans answered with six straight on three ECSU errors, two kills, and an Andrea Rivera-Reyes ace to take a 6-2 lead.
- UMO extended their lead to nine points as the score sat at 15-6 following six errors and three Trojan kills.
- Elizabeth City State pulled within six points, trailing the Trojans 21-15, following an 8-3 rally by the Vikings.
- Mount Olive held off the rallying Vikings to win the second set 25-19 capped off with a kill by Kamber Skeen.
THIRD SET
- UMO opened the third set with a quick 5-2 run.
- The Trojans increased their lead to five points, 11-6, but the Vikings battled back to tie the score at 12 points each.
- A 7-1 run by the Trojans gave them a 19-13 lead heading into the later stage of the set. Four Viking errors and three Trojan kills combined for the run.
- ECSU pulled back within four points, trailing 20-16, but UMO scored four straight to reclaim an eight-point lead before scoring the final point to take the third set 25-18 and the match 3-0.
KEY STATS
- Kamber Skeen recorded a double-double tallying 11 kills and 14 assists in the match as well as tying for the team-high in digs with nine.

FIRST SET
- Pembroke opened the match strong as they took a 10-3 lead right out of the gates in the opening set against the Trojans.
- The two teams traded points over the next eight services, as the Trojans trailed the Braves 14-7.
- UMO scored two more points in the set but fell 25-9 as errors plagued the team in the opening set.
SECOND SET
- The Braves scored the first six points of the set before a kill by Ania Keene gave Mount Olive its first point.
- UMO pulled within four points of UNCP, 12-8, following a 7-5 run that included four Brave errors, two Trojan aces, and a kill.
- Mount Olive stayed within four points through the next several services until the Braves scored three straight to take a 21-14 lead.
- The Trojans were given four points on four consecutive Pembroke errors putting the score at 21-18 in UNCP's favor.
- UMO ran out of time though as UNC Pembroke took a 25-20 win in the second set.
THIRD SET
- UMO showed some fire as they opened the third set with a 6-4 run over the Brave that included four kills and two Braves errors.
- The Trojans lead grew to four points as they held a 12-8 lead, but the Braves caught back up to take a 13-12 lead on five straight Trojan errors.
- Mount Olive reclaimed their lead on a 5-2 run putting the score at 17-15 before UNC Pembroke took the next four points to lead 19-17.
- UMO called a timeout to regroup but fell short as Pembroke took the third set 25-19 and the set 3-0.
KEY STATS
- Kamber Skeen again led the team in kills with eight while tallying 14 digs and 13 assists.
- Jimnelly Del Valle and Andrea Rivera-Reyes collected double-digit digs on the night with Del Valle collecting 15 and Rivera-Reyes 11.
NEXT UP
Mount Olive returns to action on Friday and Saturday in a pair of Conference Carolinas contests against Lees-McRae and King. The Trojans will face the Bobcats on Friday evening in a 7 p.m. match in Banner Elk, N.C., while turning around the next day to face the Tornado at 2 p.m. in Bristol, Tenn.
