UNC Pembroke Edges Out Mount Olive To Win In Four Sets

PEMBROKE, North Carolina - The University of Mount Olive women's volleyball team fell in a tough four-set match on Tuesday evening against the Braves of UNC Pembroke in Pembroke, NC. The Trojans fall to 3-10 on the season while the Braves improve to 10-14.

GAME INFORMATION
The Trojans started off hot as they took an early led in the match, winning set one 25-17. The Braves then came back and held off the Trojans in the next three sets, 25-21, 25-18, 25-19, to win the match in four.

Trojan Leaders
Mount Olive was led by Starr Sergent with 13 kills on 39 attacks. She was followed by Kamber Skeen and Amara Eziakonwa with six kills each. Madison Goodman and Nicholle Yeo split the setting duties recording 17 and 13 assists respectively. Ania Keene (14) and Jimnelly Del Valle (12) combined for 26 of the teams' 48 digs in the match. Del Valle led the team with three service aces while Alyssa Jackson tallied five blocks on the night, two solo and three assisted.

Braves Leaders
The Braves were led by Kaila Crowder with nine kills, while teammates Brianna Warren, Raven Oates, and Elly Hicks all recorded eight kills on the night. Kasandra Sturges and Morgan Gibbs shared the setting role with Sturges collecting 19 assists and Gibbs 16. Anna Heinz collected a match-high 26 digs in the match to lead the UNCP backline.

Key Moment
The key moment of the match came in the third set when the Braves claimed the lead after trailing UMO by four to lead by seven, 21-14, late in set three.
