Belmont Abbey Topple Trojans In Three Sets

MOUNT OLIVE, North Carolina - The University of Mount Olive women's volleyball team fell in straight sets on Thursday night to the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College in Conference Carolinas women's volleyball action. UMO falls to 3-11 overall and 0-7 in conference, while BAC improves to 11-11 and 6-1.

GAME INFORMATION
The Trojans held the lead a majority of the first set, however, a 13-2 rally by the Crusaders propelled Belmont Abbey to a 25-22 set one win. BAC led the second set but allowed UMO to pull within one, 23-22, following an 11-8 run by Mount Olive, before closing out the set 25-22. The momentum carried through into set three for the Crusaders who won out the match 25-19 in three sets.

Trojan Leaders
Mount Olive was led by Starr Sergent and Alyssa Jackson who tallied six kills each, while Ania Keene and Amara Eziakonwa were just behind with five. Madison Goodman and Nicholle Yeo shared the setting responsibilities tallying 13 and 11 respectively. Sergent led the backline with 14 digs with Jackson and Eziakonwa tying with two in solo blocks.

Crusader Leaders
The Crusaders were led by Andie Meredith with 11 kills while Mackenzie Chrapliwy tallied 10. Cassidy Bonito collected 33 of the 39 Belmont Abbey assists, while Paige Rawlins and Caitlyn Faber shared the defensive duties with 17 and 12 digs respectively.

Key Moment
The key moment of the match came in the opening set when the Crusaders came from trailing 20-12 to winning 25-22 after their 13-2 rally.
