Mount Olive Picks Up First Conference Win On The Road At Chowan

MURFREESBORO, North Carolina - The University of Mount Olive women's volleyball team picked up their first Conference Carolinas win in a four-set match over the Hawks of Chowan University on Friday evening in Murfreesboro, NC.

GAME INFORMATION
The Trojans started the match by picking up the opening set win 25-21. Chowan came back to tie the match up at one set each winning set two 25-22. Mount Olive managed to string together back-to-back sets to win the match in four sets. 

Trojan Leaders
The Trojans were led by freshman Starr Sergent with a season and career-high 19 kills and 17 digs. Kamber Skeen tallied nine kills on the evening with seven digs. Madison Goodman and Nicholle Yeo shared the setting role with Goodman leading with 23 assists and Yeo putting up 14 assists.

Jimnelly Del Valle led the team with 22 digs. Sergent tallied 17 while Goodman and Yeo both collected 11 each.

Hawk Leaders
The Hawks were led by Anixa Rosa-Martinez with 18 kills and 19 digs. Katie Houston recorded a team-high 27 digs while teammate Hannah Sladick joined her with 20 digs of her own. Ciara Ortega led the setting game with 37 assists.

Key Moment
The match was a back and forth match the entire evening with neither team really dominating control of the game. UMO managed to hold off Chowan in the last two sets with a five-point and four-point advantage respectively.

The Trojans return to Kornegay Arena tomorrow, Saturday, October 26, for a 3 PM match against arch-rival Barton College.
