Trojans Fall In Four To Bulldogs Of Barton

MOUNT OLIVE, North Carolina - The University of Mount Olive women's volleyball team fell to the Bulldogs of Barton College in four sets on Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas women's volleyball action. The Trojans fall to 5-12 overall and 1-8 in conference while the Bulldogs improve to 8-10 and 5-6.

GAME INFORMATION
The Bulldogs began the game with a seven-point win in set one 25-18. Mount Olive battled back to take set two 25-15 in their best set of the match. The last two sets were nailbiters with Barton squeaking ahead narrowly winning set three 25-21 and set four 25-22.

Trojan Leaders
The Trojans were led by Amara Eziakonwa with 11 kills on the afternoon. Starr Sergent tallied nine with Alyssa Jackson adding six of her own. Nicholle Yeo tallied a career-high 19 assists in splitting the setter role with Madison Goodman who tallied 13 in the match.

Jimnelly Del Valle, Faith Herman, and Starr Sergent all collected double-digit digs with 17, 14, and 13 respectively.

Bulldogs Leaders
The Bulldogs were led by Allison Gambill and Kaytlin Elkins with 16 kills each. Sarah Kirk and Megan McCain split the setting role recording 21 and 17 assists respectively. Four Bulldogs tallied double-digit dig numbers with Gambill and Kirk leading the way with 17 digs each. Elkins collected 15 while Baleigh Hill added 12.

Key Moment
The biggest momentum swing came in the third set with Barton taking a 2-1 lead in the match score. Barton got ahead five points but allowed UMO to climb back within two a few times midway through the set. Barton kept the Trojans at bay and won the set to take the match lead.

The Trojans return to action on Friday, Nov. 1, when they travel to Tigerville, SC, to face the Crusaders of North Greenville University. First serve between the Trojans and Crusaders is set for 7 PM and can be watched on the Conference Carolinas Digital Network.
