Trojans Finish 10th Out Of 19 Teams At Montevallo Women's Cross Country Classic

Bailee Henry and Rebecca Farnsley both placed in the top 25 out of 162 runners as University of Mount Olive finished 10th out of 19 teams at the Montevallo University Women's Cross Country Classic Saturday at Montevallo, Ala. The Trojans finished second out of four Conference Carolinas teams.

Henry finished 23rd with a time of 24:37.10 in the 6k event. Farnsley was immediately behind in 24th with a time of 24:37.80. The Trojans placed five runners in the top half of the field as Kelsey Valentine (25:23.30) was 44th, Emily Shaw (26:17.40) was 74th and Julia Bridges (26:23.20) finished 76th.

Mount Olive compiled 226 points in the team results, finishing 27 points ahead of 11th-place Young Harris and nine points behind ninth-place Queens. Event host Montevallo placed five runners in the top 20 and won the team title with 58 points.

Montevallo will be the host for the 2014 NCAA Division II Cross Country Southeast Regional in November.

Mount Olive concludes its regular season schedule next weekend as the Trojans travel to Wingate, N.C., Saturday to compete in the Wingate University Invitational.
