Women's Cross Country Finishes Second At Wingate Bulldog Stampede

Freshman Rebecca Farnsley finished third out of 46 runners and University of Mount Olive placed second out of five women's cross country teams at the Wingate University Bulldog Stampede Saturday at Wingate, N.C. Trojan teammates Bailey Henry and Kelsey Valentine joined Farnsley in the top 10.

Farnsley ran the 6k course in a time of 19:18, just one second out of second place and 22 seconds out of first place. Henry finished eighth with a time of 19:39, while Valentine was 10th with a time of 19:44.

The Trojans compiled a team score of 51 points to finish 21 points ahead of third-place North Greenville. Wingate won the team title with a score of 18 points.

Saturday's meet was the final regular season competition for Mount Olive. The Trojans are idle next weekend, then head to Concord, N.C., November 7 to compete in the 2014 Conference Carolinas Women's Cross Country Championship.
