No. 24 Trojans Finish 6th At Royal Cross Country Challenge

Charlotte, N.C. - The University of Mount Olive women's cross country team finished 6th of 45 teams at the Royal Cross Country Challenge hosted by Queens University in Charlotte, N.C. Leah Hanle finished second to lead the way for the 24th nationally ranked Trojans.

NOTABLES

  • Leah Hanle highlighted the day by finishing 2nd overall of 412 runners. Hanle's time of 16:44 is a new program record, one that she set last season, by shaving 12 second off her previous PR of 16:56.

  • Celine Ritter finished 20 overall scoring 19 team points with a time of 17:59, just six seconds shy of matching her personal record.

  • Shona Blades finished third for the Trojans coming in 23 of 412 runners with a time of 18:04 which is a new personal record for the Scotland native senior and moves her into third in the UMO women's 5K records.

  • Freshman Amber Owens ran a time of 19:02 while finishing 85th with teammate Elise Tanner finishing three seconds behind in 92nd place.

  • Heidi Murray, Lena Kaster, Jessica Glenn, Elizabeth Loez and Erin Dillon also competed for the Trojans at the event with their placements not counting towards the team total.

Mount Olive is back on the course next Saturday, Oct. 20, as the team travels to Pittsburgh, Pa., to compete in the NCAA National Preview Meet.
