Trojans Finish 14th At High Point University VertCross Invitational

HIGH POINT, North Carolina - The University of Mount Olive women's cross country team finished 14th of 19 teams that competed at the High Point University VertCross Invitational on Friday afternoon in High Point, NC.

MEET INFORMATION
The VertCross Invitational consisted of four Division II teams and 15 Division I programs from the Southeast Region. UMO came in ahead of Gardner-Webb, Roanoke, Guilford, Limestone, and Salem.

INSIDE THE MEET
Amber Owens was the lead Trojan who finished 62nd overall and recorded 49 team points. Owens ran a 24:24.39 time in the 6K race. Senior Lena Kaster was the only other Trojan to finish inside the top-100 racers placing 89th with a 25:15.27 time.

Maddie Carkeet finished 113th recording 83 points for the Trojans with her time of 26:31.96 while Elizabeth Lopez and Erin Dillon finished 131st and 137th respectively. Lopez tallied 97 team points and Dillon 100.

Meredith Lorient rounded out the race for UMO finishing 157th of 165 runners with a time of 33:29.18 and tallying 114 points.

The Trojans are back on the course next weekend when they host the 2019 Conference Carolinas Women's Cross Country Championship meet on Oct. 26.
