Ray McDonald, Sr. Sports Complex

Ray McDonald, Sr. Sports Complex

Named after former Mount Olive Mayor Ray McDonald, Sr., the complex opened for use in the early spring of 2017 and serves as the home for UMO's men's and women's lacrosse teams and men's and women's track and field teams. The complex includes an artificial surface field, which has markings for men's and women's lacrosse.  The eight lanes of the 400-meter track have a Rekortan surface and are surrounded by a sidewalk and fencing.  Field event areas include long jump, triple jump, pole vault, high jump, hammer, discus, and javelin.  There are two sections of bleachers, one for general seating with a capacity of 500 and one for the throws areas with a capacity of 60.  The complex also features a scoreboard, storage building, and press box with Wi-Fi and public address speaker system.

The first-ever regular season event at the complex took place on February 11, 2017, as UMO's women's lacrosse team defeated Coker College, 17-6. The first home track meet in UMO program history, The Trojan Challenge, was held March 17, 2017, at the McDonald Complex.

In early 2019, the complex received a name change from the Ray McDonald Sr. Track & Field /Lacrosse Complex to the Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex as it will house the track & field programs, men's and women's lacrosse, and the new field hockey team.
