No. 13 Mount Olive Shutouts Southern Wesleyan 12-0 In Series Opener

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. --- No. 13 University of Mount Olive baseball shutout the Warriors of Southern Wesleyan University 12-0 on Friday evening in at Scarborough Field in Mount Olive, N.C.

How It Happened


  • Mount Olive started the game taking an early lead as Jose Lopez plated the first run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first.
  • Drew Ellis' solo home run and Justin Lee's RBI-single in the bottom of the second continued to extend the Trojans lead to 3-0.
  • Nate Estes added a solo home run in the bottom of the third to further extend the UMO lead.
  • The Trojans continued to attack in the fourth inning adding four runs highlighted by a Justin Carroll's two-run home run to left center as Mount Olive led 8-0 after four complete.
  • Southern Wesleyan had no answer for the Trojans and Mount Olive added four more insurance runs and took the first game of the series 12-0.


  • Brighton Hudson (4-1) had another solid performance on the bump for Mount Olive as he went seven complete innings allowing three hits, a walk, and struck out 12 picking up his fourth win of the season.
  • Nate Estes led the Trojans with a 2-for-3 three-RBI performance from the plate.
