Trojans Soar Past Emmanuel, 22-4

Franklin Springs, Ga. – The 12th-ranked University of Mount Olive men's lacrosse team glided past Emmanuel College, 22-4, in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon in Franklin Springs, Georgia.

How It Happened


  • Mount Olive opened the game on a tear, scoring the first goal just 1:10 into the contest on a goal by sophomore Thatcher Clark.
  • The Trojans scored four more unanswered goals in the opening quarter, including a pair of goals by senior Brett Kingston, that gave UMO a 5-0 lead after the first 15 minutes.


  • UMO increased its lead to seven after opening the second quarter with a goal by sophomore Brody Sullivan off an assist by junior Jacob Ball followed by a goal by Ball on a man-up opportunity.
  • Emmanuel got on the board with a goal at 9:43 that the Trojans answered with three-straight goals to give UMO a 10-1 lead with 47 seconds left in the half.
  • The Lions cut the Trojans' lead to eight at 10-2 with a goal just before the horn sounded.


  • In the third frame, the Trojans pushed their lead to double digits at 14-4 in a quarter that featured Kingston picking up his fourth and fifth goals of the game.


  • The final quarter was dominated by the Trojans as UMO opened the period with a pair of goals by sophomore Austin Whitlow that gave UMO a 16-4 lead.
  • Freshman Tyler Keele scored back-to-back goals at 10:25 and 9:41 to earn a hat trick and push the Trojans ahead 18-4.
  • The Trojans added four more goals in the final 9:08 in route to UMO's 22-4 victory.


  • Kingston led the Trojans, tying a season-high with five goals in the win.
  • Five other Trojans scored multiple goals as Ball and Keele each recorded hat tricks and Clark, Whitlow, and junior Cody Graden all scored twice.
  • Junior Matt Lewis grabbed seven ground balls to lead UMO.
  • Between the posts, junior Will Urban (W: 8-2) earned the victory, making six saves on eight shots.

Mount Olive travels to Banner Elk, N.C. on April 8 to take on Lees-McRae at 2 p.m. in Conference Carolinas action.
