How It Happened

  • Limestone took the momentum early with a goal at the 12:43 mark as Matt Hommel scored the game's first goal.
  • UMO countered as Thatcher Clark scored an unassisted goal with 6:52 remaining in the first quarter to tie the game at one.
  • The Saints, however, took the lead into the second as a goal with 3:54 gave LC the 2-1 advantage.

  • Limestone's Matthew Nelson gave the Saints a two-goal lead with 12:51 on the clock, but Mount Olive made a charge.
  • Austin Whitlow, off a pass from Clark, put the Trojans on a 3-0 run to end the opening half and with a Gunner Parson goal with 4:47 left Mount Olive took its first and only lead of the game.

  • The third quarter was all Limestone as the Saints blasted home eight goals to Mount Olive's two and ballooned out to an 11-6 lead heading into the final quarter.

  • The Saints scored the first three goals of the quarter and despite the Trojans scoring three goals within the final nine minutes of play the deficit was just too large for UMO to overcome as Mount Olive fell.

Mount Olive will return home to take on No. 15 Belmont Abbey April 7. The first face-off is set for 1 p.m. from the Ray McDonald Sr. Track and Field/Lacrosse Complex.
