Records: Mount Olive (12-3), Emmanuel (4-12)

How It Happened

  • Mount Olive won the opening faceoff but a turnover off the FO win allowed Emmanuel to find the back of the net 14:23 into the game.
  • The Trojans tied the game back up three minutes later off the stick of Thatcher Clark and the offense heated up.
  • UMO then went on a scoring run that saw a Connor Watson hat trick, and scores by Blake Tallon, Nathan Bradley, and Austin Robinson to extend the lead to 8-1.

  • Mount Olive came out in the second and continued the offensive firepower as Braydon Hickey scored the opening salvo 42 seconds into the quarter.
  • Max Quinn added the second goal in the run four seconds later as the Trojans won the faceoff and quickly scored their 10th goal of the contest.
  • UMO went onto add three more goals by Sullivan (10:04), Clark (9:41), and Tyler Keele (8:41), before Emmanuel was able to stop the bleeding momentarily.
  • The Lions were able to sneak a goal home at the seven-minute mark and take a scoring drought away in the quarter as the game moved to a 13-2 advantage for UMO.
  • Tim De Ceuster and Brody Sullivan closed out the quarter with the final scores of the half and Mount Olive took a 13 goal cushion into halftime.

  • The Trojans relaxed the scoring in the third as only four goals were driven home following an Emmanuel score to opening the quarter and Mount olive led 19-3.

  • Mount Olive scored first in the fourth with Nathan Bradley scoring the 20th goal for the Trojans off a pass from Clark at the 13:45 mark.
  • Lucas Shein added another goal for Mount Olive with just over 12:30 to go in the game to extend the lead to 18 but EC was poised for a late run.
  • The Lions not showing any signs of laying down came back to put home three goals against the Trojans at the 8:33 mark and took the score to 21-6 with just under five to play in the game.
  • The Trojans did, however, have the final say in the game as Evan Floyd unloaded a shot from the top of the box for his first goal of the season and closed the game out.

  • Connor Watson led the Trojans with five goals and had two assists, while also picking up two groundballs.
  • Andrew Avarello (W: 11-3) played the first half between the pipes and made four saves on six shots faced.

Mount Olive advances to the semifinals of the Conference Carolinas tournament at the Ray McDonald Sr Sports Complex against the No. 2 seed Belmont Abbey College on Friday, April 26. Face-off is set for 3 p.m.
