Men's Soccer Falls To Limestone In Regular Season Finale

GAFFNEY, South Carolina. – The University of Mount Olive men's soccer team fell to the Saints of Limestone College 6-1 in Conference Carolinas action Saturday afternoon in Gaffney, S.C. The contest was the final game of the regular season for the Trojans.
Game Information
The Saints of Limestone took the momentum from the 10-minute mark in as LC scored four unanswered goals and took a 4-0 lead into the half.

In the second half, Limestone continued to press adding two more scores in the 53rd and 62nd minutes to put the game out of reach. In the final seconds of the game, MacLayne Gairrett took away the shutout but there was enough time left and the Saints won the game 6-1. 

Trojan Leaders
MacLayne Gairrett led the Trojans with the only Trojan goal on his only shot of the game.

Iwan Roberts (2-9-1) in goal for the Trojans recorded one saves on three shots on goal.

Saint Leaders
Limestone was led by Josiah Ortiz who had a hat trick in the game off five shots.

The first goal by Limestone proved to be the game-winner. 

Up Next: Mount Olive will now await their fate in the post-season Conference Carolinas Tournament. The Trojans currently sit eighth in the conference standings, the final spot needed to make the tournament, with more games scheduled for Monday.
