Mount Olive, N.C. --- The University of Mount Olive men's volleyball team soared past Pfeiffer University, 3-0, in a three-set sweep on Saturday afternoon in Kornegay Arena in Mount Olive, N.C.

How It Happened


  • Mount Olive ran out to a 13-4 lead to open the contest, capped off by a kill by junior Jeff Yasalonis.
  • The Trojans took their first double-digit lead of the set at 18-8 in route to the 25-15 opening set victory.


  • Pfeiffer kept pace with Mount Olive through the first 21 points as UMO held just a one-point lead at 11-10.
  • After the close early portions of the set, the Trojans used a 10-2 run to take control at 21-12.
  • Mount Olive earned the 25-18 second set win on a kill by freshman Fabian Ramen.
  • UMO hit .296 in the second frame to the Falcons' -.083.


  • The Trojans opened a 9-4 lead on Pfeiffer in the third set.
  • Not allowing UMO to pull away, the Falcons got within three at 17-14 on a service error by the Trojans.
  • Mount Olive followed the error with a 5-0 run that helped UMO slip out to a 22-14 advantage.
  • UMO ended the set and the match with a kill by freshman Jesiah Orr that grabbed the 25-17 set win for the Trojans.


  • Junior Robert Poole (9) and Ramen (8), who also led UMO in digs with 10, combined for 17 kills to lead the Trojans in the victory.
  • Junior Jeff Yasalonis recorded a team-high 33 assists in the win.
  • The Trojans outhit Pfeiffer, .288 to -.048, in the win.
