How It Happened
Game 1: Play-by-Play
Game 2: Play-by-Play

  • The first two and a half innings passed by quietly with just one hit for each team.
  • UMO struck first in the bottom of the third as Kristin Power singled to third and Charlene Thompson sprinted home from second scoring on a Railsplitter throwing error.
  • The Railsplitters answered in the top of the fourth with a run of their own to tie the game at one.
  • LMU went ahead in the fifth on a two-RBI double that gave the Railsplitters a 3-1 lead.
  • Held scoreless in the fifth, UMO found its answer in the sixth inning as Anna Ingram doubled to left field scoring Kayla Allen and Power to tie the game at three.
  • As was true most of the afternoon, LMU immediately responded with a five-run top of the seventh to move in front 8-3.
  • The Trojans attempted to make a comeback in the seventh as Allen pushed across Kelsey Hayes, but UMO could draw no closer in the 8-4 loss.

  • After Kylie Ward sat the Railsplitters down in order in the first, UMO once again struck first as Karen Foley singled to right field to drive home Allen to push the Trojans ahead 1-0 early on.
  • The Railsplitters' bats were silent until the fourth when LMU scored three runs to take a 3-1 lead over UMO.
  • UMO tied the game in the bottom half of the fifth as JenniBeth Burge and Charlene Thompson both knocked in a run.
  • A pair of runs in the sixth and a single tally in the seventh provided the needed cushion for LMU as the Railsplitters took the second game, 6-3.

  • Allen went 3-for-4 with a run and a RBI while Ingram went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
  • Foley and Caitlin Ewers split time in the circle as Ewers was credited with the loss, pitching two innings and allowing five runs on six hits.

  • Burge led the Trojans in the second game going 3-for-3 and bringing in one run.
  • Ward pitched the first 5.2 innings allowing five hits and two earned runs before Emily Chaisson came on in relief for 1.1 innings of work while giving up six hits and three earned runs.
