
St. Augustine, Fla. --- The University of Mount Olive softball team fell in a doubleheader to Tusculum College, 4-3 and 4-3, on Friday evening in St. Augustine, Florida.

GAME ONE
- Mount Olive and Tusculum combined for just three hits in the opening three innings while holding each other scoreless.
- The Pioneers scored first in the top of the fourth scoring a pair of runs on back-to-back base hits to give Tusculum a 2-0 lead.
- Tusculum added two more runs to its advantage in the sixth as the Pioneers went ahead 4-0.
- With two outs in the seventh, UMO attempted to make a late run scoring three runs on a two-RBI single by freshman Alyssa Pickle and an RBI base hit by junior Kayla Allen that put the Trojans within one at 4-3.
- UMO put the tying run on second with two outs, but could not push the run across as Tusculum grabbed the 4-3 win.
KEY STATS GAME 1
- Allen and junior Kristin Power led the Trojans with two hits each.
- Freshman Emily Chaisson (7-5) was credited with the loss pitching a complete game, allowing two earned runs on 11 hits while striking out three.
GAME TWO
- Tusculum struck first in the bottom of the first inning on a UMO error that gave the Pioneers a 1-0 lead.
- The Trojans grabbed their first lead of the evening with a three-run outburst in the third.
- Junior Anna Ingram opened the scoring in the third with a two-run base hit to center field before coming around to score on an error later in the inning, giving UMO a 3-1 lead.
- The Pioneers tied the game at three in the bottom of the third on a two-run double.
- UMO and Tusculum were held in check until the bottom of the seventh as the Pioneers walked-off with a 4-3 victory after scoring on a Trojan error.
KEY STATS GAME 2
- Junior Kylie Ward (2-3) received the loss, pitching six and two-thirds innings, allowing two earned runs on seven hits.
- Ingram led the way for the Trojans with three hits, two RBIs, and a run scored.
