Women's Lacrosse Soars Past Chowan

Mount Olive, N.C. – The University of Mount Olive earned a 19-1 win over Chowan University in Conference Carolinas women's lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon in Mount Olive, N.C.

How It Happened


  • Freshman Jackie Kaderabek opened the match with a pair of goals in the first 1:40 of the game to push UMO ahead 2-0.
  • Kaderabek made it a hat trick in the first 4:56 with a goal on an assist by senior Saffron Snethen with 25:04 remaining on the clock in the opening half.
  • Chowan recorded its lone goal of the contest with 17:08 left in the half to cut the Trojans' lead to 7-1.
  • Following Chowan's breakthrough, Mount Olive scored seven more times including four goals by junior Michaela Ciciarelli to provide the Trojans with a 14-1 advantage at the halftime break.


  • In what proved to be a much slower goal scoring half, the Trojans tacked on five more goals in the final 30 minutes.
  • Freshman Kiara Burke recorded a pair of bookend goals in the second half, the first just 2:36 into the period and the latter with 1:48 remaining in the game, to earn her first collegiate hat trick in UMO's 19-1 victory.


  • Ciciarelli led the way for UMO for the second time this season, netting four goals in the win.
  • Adding hat tricks for the Trojans were Kaderabek and Burke.
  • Three Trojans added a pair of goals, as Snethen and freshmen Kelly Young and Kali Ferguson each found the back of the net twice.
  • Sophomore Samantha Thomson (2-0) earned her second victory in goal this season, as Thomson allowed just one goal in 30 minutes of action.
  • The Trojans outshot Chowan, 40-2 in the win.

Mount Olive returns to action at the Ray McDonald, Sr. Track and Field/Lacrosse Complex on Saturday for a showdown with Catawba at 2 p.m.
