UMO Falls To No. 8 Queens, 20-9

Charlotte, N.C. – The University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse team fell to No. 8 Queens University (N.C.), 20-9, in non-conference action on Wednesday evening in Charlotte, N.C.

How It Happened


  • Queens opened the scoring with a goal just 4:44 into the opening half by Alexandra Bruder.
  • The Trojans tied the contest with a goal by senior Saffron Snethen at 23:33.
  • After the Royals retook the lead, UMO answered with a goal by freshman Kiara Burke off an assist from Snethen at 21:27, tying the game at two.
  • Following the Trojans' equalizer, Queens scored five-straight goals to open a 7-2 lead on UMO with 16:32 left in the first half.
  • Burke scored her second goal of the evening at 16:19 trimming the Royals' advantage to 7-3.
  • To end the half, Queens went on a 9-2 run to grab a 16-5 lead at halftime.


  • The Royals increased their lead to 18-5 with a pair of goals in the first five minutes of the second half.
  • UMO ended the second period on a 4-2 run with two goals each for Burke and fellow freshman Jackie Kaderabek to trim the Trojans' final deficit to 20-9.


  • Burke led UMO with four goals in the loss, while Snethen and Kaderabek added two goals each.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Samantha Thomson (L: 6-4) was credited with the loss, allowing seven Royals' goals in 13:41 between the posts.
  • The Trojans were outshot in the first half, 25-7, but held an 11-8 advantage in shots in the second half.
