How It Happened

First Half

  • The first half was a stalemate as both offenses combined for 21 shots but could not find the back of the net until Mount Olive broke through late.
  • In the 44th minute, UMO committed a foul giving Southern Wesleyan a free kick. The kick from the Warriors did not have much pace on it and it was picked off by Kaylee Larson.
  • Larson then found Samantha Bearden, as the Trojans looked to counter and the transfer beat three defenders and found the back corner of the net for the first score of the game.

Second Half

  • Mount Olive capitalized off the one-goal advantage and quickly added a second score in the 49th minute.
  • Larson was again in the right place at the right time as the senior, inside the box, turned on a defender and passed to her right. There she found an open Jordyn Davis and put UMO up by two as the shot chipped over the keeper.
  • Junior Raven Withaar put the final goal in the back of the net for Mount Olive in the 65th minute and the Trojans sealed the 3-0 win.

  • Kaylee Larson led the team in shots with six and had one assist. Bearden, Davis, and Withaar all had scores for UMO.
