Women's Soccer Starts 2019 Season With 4-1 Downing Of Converse

SPARTANBURG, South Carolina – The University of Mount Olive women's soccer team opened the 2019 season on top as they defeated Converse College 4-1 on the road in Conference Carolinas action Saturday afternoon in Spartanburg, S.C.
Game Information
The Trojans, who have been unable to play their first two games of the season due to hurricane Dorian forcing cancelations, found the first goal of the season in the 24th minute on a Jaelyn Brown score. 

Kali Schindler flicked on a header, after a cross from Cami Pereira, in the second half and Pereira added a score of her own in the 65th minute to continue the UMO scoring roll. Mount Olive would go onto push in one final goal after Jasmine Pinter put the nail in the coffin beating the Valkyries keeper 1v1. 

Converse tried to make a comeback with a score in the 86th minute but the lead was too insurmountable and the Trojans took the game.
Trojan Leaders
Mount Olive was led by Cami Pereira who had both a score and an assist for the Trojans. Sara Berglund and Jaelyn Brown both led the team in shots with three and each added to the scoring tally.

Taylor Lewis (1-0, 1-0) in goal for the Trojans picked up her first collegiate win for the green and black facing three shots on goal recording three saves in 72 minutes.

Valkyrie Leaders
Converse was led by Devyn Plyler who had three shot and the lone goal for the Valkyries.

Key Moment
The first score of the game proved to be the momentum keeper as Brown's goal started the UMO four-goal run and put the game in firm hands of the Trojans.
