Trojans Eliminated By Top-Seeded Erskine In Tournament Semifinals

Mount Olive gave top-seeded Erskine a good fight in doubles play, but the Trojans' bid for a tournament title fell short with a 5-0 setback in the Conference Carolinas Women's Tennis Championships at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C. Saturday afternoon.

In doubles play, the Flying Fleet (16-5) were pushed in all three matches. In the top position, Molly Lentini and Francesca Ceppi fell to Corin Hallman and Mika Goyette 8-4; At number two, Roxanne Chouinard and Maite Belloso lost to Miranda Guthrie and Sarah McDonald 8-3; and at number three, Samara Paldinho and Paulina Delgado dropped an 8-3 decision to Abby O'Reilly and Victoria Stephens.

Erskine wrapped up the win with quick sweeps at the fourth and sixth singles positions.

Mount Olive finished the season 10-7.
