FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. - The Mount Olive Trojans defeated the Lions of Emmanuel College 4-3 on Friday afternoon in Conference Carolinas women's tennis action at the EC Tennis Courts in Franklin Springs, Ga.

  • UMO picked up a pair of wins in the doubles round to claim the vital doubles point heading into singles action.
  • Ece Yuksel and Emma Burroughs claimed the first win with a 6-3 victory at the No. 3 doubles flight.
  • Emmanuel took the No. 2 match, while Lina Maria Alarcon and Arianna Orozco won the No. 1 match 6-4 to give Mount Olive the 1-0 match lead.
  • The teams evenly split the singles matches taking three apiece, but UMO claimed the overall match victory 4-3 after factoring in the doubles point.
  • Alarcon won the No. 2 flight with a 6-2, 7-6 (10-8) result while Orozco made quick work of her match 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 3 spot.
  • Carmen Espinos helped win the match for the Trojans after she took a three-set victory in the No. 5 bout with a scoreline of 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.
